Star Wars is possibly the most iconic and influential film franchises of all time, with a legacy spanning more than four decades. With numerous films, TV shows, and books, it can be daunting for a beginner to know where to begin . Relax we have your back In this guide, we'll give you a brief overview of the essential Star Wars content to watch, read or play and help you get started on your journey to a galaxy far, far away.

1

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977) OK we know this may be a tad cliché here but its a beginners guide so of course were going to start with the original Star Wars film, A New Hope, is the best starting point for anyone looking to take there first foray into the universe. It introduces the main characters, the galaxy they inhabit, and the central conflict between the Rebels and the Empire. Watching this film will give you a basic understanding of the Star Wars universe and was the starting point for millions of sci-fi aficionados

2

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Yep you guessed it number 2 on our list is number 2 In the series. Considered by many fans to be the best Star Wars film of all time, The Empire Strikes Back picks up where A New Hope left off, and deepens the characters and story. This film also introduces the now infamous plot twist (yeah that one) that has become undoubtedly one of cinemas most memorable and quotable moments.

3

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) Now personally this may be my favourite of the original trilogy, not only does it introduce us to the original star wars cuties the Ewoks, Return of the Jedi brings the story to a satisfying and epic conclusion, which also features one of the most iconic battles in film history: the space battle above the forest moon of Endor.

4

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) The first film in the prequel trilogy, The Phantom Menace introduces a younger generation of characters and explores the origins of the Jedi Order. Although not as well-received as the original trilogy, it's still an important part of the Star Wars story and how can anyone have so much hate for a movie that gave us the absolute badass that is the legendary Darth Maul?

5

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) This animated show that became an instant classic with young and old fans alike ran for seven series explores the events of the Clone Wars, the major conflict that takes place between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy. It introduces new characters such as Ashoka Tano and Captain Rex expands the Star Wars universe in new ways.

6

Star Wars: Ahsoka (novel, 2016) For those who want to dive a little deeper into the character of Ashoka Tano, a fan-favourite from The Clone Wars, this novel explores her journey after leaving the Jedi Order.

7

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015) The first film in the sequel trilogy, The Force Awakens brings back classic characters and introduces some pretty amazing new ones, while also setting up a new story arc. It's a great starting point for those who want to explore the new direction of the Star Wars franchise

8

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019) This is a must-play for any Star Wars fan. You play as Cal Kestis, a former Jedi Padawan, who is on the run from the Empire. The game is a mix of action, exploration, and puzzles, and features some of the best lightsaber combat in any Star Wars game. The story is engaging and well-written, and the game's graphics and sound design are top-notch.

9

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2013) This classic RPG takes place thousands of years before the events of the movies and puts you in the shoes of a Jedi Knight. The game has a deep and immersive story that will keep you engaged for hours, and features some memorable characters and plot twists. The combat is turn-based, which may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the game's story and world-building more than make up for it.
